First created creature was Raven. He was inquisitive and a trickster. He was not black, as he is today.
One day long ago he heard a cackling sound coming up from the earth below. It sounded much like own voice. He flew down to investigate what turned out to be fire. He did not know what fire was so he flew very low. So low that the fire rose up and burnt his feathers black. That is how Raven became black.
